Website Design

Updated: Aug 23, 2019

Having a well-designed marketable website is crucial in the digital age for business. Having a professional website gives off the impression a business is trustworthy, which in turn boosts sales. In this blog I will cover the importance of web design and some ways to design a professional website.

Your website often times is your first impression as a business, and customers can make their judgement in mere moments. When potential customers see a well-designed website it signals the business is trustworthy and reputable. If you don’t put time, money, and effort into your website it will show. On the other hand if your website is marketable, modern, and inviting customers will be more likely to inquire about your business or spend money. Here are some important things Push Marketing considers when designing a website.

Navigation: A key feature to any website should be how easy it is to maneuver. It should be quick and easy for customers to find the information they are looking for on your website. One easy way to accomplish this is with a large, bold, and easy to read navigation bar at the top of your website.

Multi-Device Use: In the digital age people are not relegated to clunky desktop computers to access the internet. Customers should be able to not only access but maintain full usability on a desktop, laptop, tablet, or phone (and someday even on smart watches!). Having an adaptable website means regardless of the device you will be able to grab a customer’s attention.

Style: Style can be one of the most difficult steps when building a website, but it is also a key component to branding. Do you choose to be colorful and flashy, do you choose one color to carry throughout everything, do you keep everything muted and subdued? That choice depends on the type of business you are and the kind of message you want to send, for example a wedding planners website usually used soft cursive fonts and pastel colors as opposed to a bounce house company using neon colors and bold lettering.

Visuals: Studies show that customers are 10 times more likely to interact with a video than text. Breaking up the information on your website with photos and videos is a great way to keep customers engaged, however there is definitely a fine line before going overboard. A website cluttered with photos and videos becomes overwhelming and will steer customers away. Business’s that sell product have even more reason to include photos, customers like to see a product before they buy it and photos on your website will make customers feel like it’s a good investment.

CTAs: The final and most important step when building a website is having some sort of call to action. Once you have people on your website, especially engaged potential customers, you want to point them towards becoming a customer or making a purchase. A call to action can be anything from a sign up for more information button all the way to a buy now button on an ecommerce website. It is important that a CTA clearly stands out on a page and is straight to the point.

Building a website can be complicated if you don’t know what you’re doing. You have to have an understanding of brand identity, marketing, and web development to build not only a functioning but a beautiful website that attracts customers.
